Urban Mobility Conference Postponed
The organising committee of the Urban Mobility Conference wishes to inform all delegates, speakers, partners, sponsors, and exhibitors that the conference, previously scheduled for 21–23 November 2026 at the Kigali Convention Centre, has been postponed.
This decision was taken in consultation with our host institutions and partners to ensure the conference is delivered to the standard our stakeholders expect, and to allow the broadest possible participation from governments, industry, and the development community across the continent.
The conference will proceed at a new date. Revised dates will be confirmed and announced in due course, and will be published on this website and shared directly with everyone who has registered their interest.
We recognise that many of you have set aside time and resources to join us in Kigali, and we sincerely regret any inconvenience this change may cause. We are grateful for your understanding and continued support, and we look forward to welcoming you to Kigali.

The global mobility landscape is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by the urgent need to decarbonize economies by 2050. Africa cannot remain on the periphery of this change.
Background
The Urban Mobility Conference 2026 (UMC2026) will serve as a strategic continental platform to catalyze dialogue, innovation, and partnerships around the future of mobility in Africa — accelerating the transition toward low-carbon, efficient, and people-centered transport systems.
Africa’s cities are expanding at an unprecedented rate, with urban populations projected to double by 2050. This rapid urbanization presents both opportunities and urgent challenges — from traffic congestion and air pollution to inadequate transport infrastructure and social inequities in mobility access.
UMC2026 aims to become Africa’s premier platform for e-mobility dialogue, knowledge exchange, and investment mobilization, aligned with the Paris Agreement, the SDGs, and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
